Here are what reviewers, parents and teachers have
to say about The Rainbow Web.
The Old Schoolhouse Review
"The illustrations are wonderful and start out in black and white. Spot color is added to the page as each color is introduced in the story. As the story ends, the illustrations are in full-color.
I found the program adorable, interesting, and quite fun. With the addition of some library books and perhaps a reading of Charlotte's Web, you'd have the makings of a great unit study. I would say this set is geared for ages 3-7 and is priced fairly"
New Product Enhances Unit Studies
"While not a unit study in and out of itself, The
Rainbow Web is an excellent introduction. The Rainbow
Web capitalizes on the young child's fascination with
insects by providing a light-hearted fantasy story
about a spider that doesn't want to spin an invisible
web. The story is supplemented by interactive science
lessons. The book is very sweet and geared towards
preschool to second-grade readers. The real jewel in
the program is the the CD-ROM, which allows young
children to compare the anatomy of a spider to that of
an insect and provides incredible pictures of
different types of spiders and their webs. A nice
feature is audio narration so children not yet ready
to read can follow along. Another nice feature is the
inclusion of 29 reproducible activity sheets to
supplement the information provided in the lessons."

What are the positive characteristics of this product?
"The photographs are breathtaking. My kids and my husband were mesmerized, especially by the close-ups. The web game is great too, and I loved how I was able to visually illustrate color mixing to my daughter. The PDF files enabled me to expand the learning to points outside of the computer. What an incredible tool for teachers and homeschooling parents as well!"
What are the positive characteristics of this product?
"The positive characteristics of this product are that it is fun and educational at the same time. It provides the great combination of math, science and reading. It was especially great with the "read to me" icon for children that had younger siblings or do not read yet. This is a great way to look at spiders. The two favorite "games" of the children were the mixing of the colors game and the "catch me if you can." Although spiders are basically a "household" insect, it was scary to see them up close and personal for several of the kids."
"Overall, the CD-ROM is a fine introduction to
spiders. Its strength is in the lessons and their
vivid photographs. The reproducibles greatly
enhance
the use of the CD. The program is most suitable for
classroom use with the younger age range."
"Face it, most people are afraid of spiders, but the little spider who is the hero of The Rainbow Web is an engaging character who has an important lesson to teach.
This story is beautifully illustrated and provides a point of departure for learning about spiders, the color wheel, and rainbows. Parents and educators will find The Rainbow Web a valuable resource, both as children's literature and as a teaching tool providing worksheets and cross-curricular activities that meet state and national science standards."

"Students loved the vivid photos,
fun puzzles, and 'catch me if you can' color game. As
a longtime teacher, my favorite option was the 'Read
to Me' button for beginning and English Language
Learners. My children will continue using this CD
since they couldn't get enough."
